Nope, Dreamcatcher and Detective have been on 4-layered PCBs since the beginning, and Finally has been a 4-layer PCB since the previous revision (March I think?). Good guess though.

Higher voltage SMD components to run the tube at the same level as your hand wired versions?

Yes, my latest batch of boards (Detective, Dreamcatcher, Elementary, Finally) have a mix of 500V and 1000V rated SMD capacitors and are running at 350V like the handwired designs. The only one I've had a chance to build up so far was Finally, and it sounds excellent. It seems to have a nice open punchiness that I wasn't expecting. It's a winner.
I also built up a handwired Finally last night for the purpose of A/B-ing the two to see how close they are in sound now that they're running on the same voltage, I'm hoping to find time for that test tonight.
Zip tie, velcro or glue the right side of the Finally and the left side of the More and press them two boxes together.
The preamp itself is an original design not based on anything else. It's nothing revolutionary or proprietary, its main job was to provide a solid (loud) preamp platform for an active tonestack.
If there's not room for a bypass footswitch, could Furthermore fit an EQ bypass switch like the UA? If you're running more than one preamp for different sounds, a way to bypass one when using the other is ideal.

That's another A/B I want to do, comparing the 350V Finally to a 235V Finally, see how audible the difference is. It will be an apples to apples comparison, whereas SMD to HW is kind of apples to pears.
The blue channel is based on the Underground Accelerator, which is basically a mix of the AD200B and the Alembic F-2B.
The red channel is a scratch design, not based on anything. I took some notes on gain staging from Soldano, but it isn't really accurate to say the circuit is based on anything Soldano. The frequency response of the gainstages is in line with the Underground Accelerator because obviously I want the lows to be able to rumble, and the tonestack of the red channel is identical to the Alembic tonestack used in the blue channel.
On a somewhat related note, the 350V versions of these sound pretty great. Just need to get the enclosures redesigned.
The only one I've directly A/B-ed is the Finally, but I have compared the red channel of Detective to HWDW and the blue channel of Dreamcatcher to HWUA. I unfortunately don't own a spectrum analyzer (yet), but my general observation based on my ears:
- Low range - about the same between the two; no noticeable difference
- Mid range - SMD seems punchier now; not sure exactly what frequency range it is, but I really dig the punch it has over the HW
- High range - HW has noticeable more treble presence at the same EQ settings and when no EQ is present (like Finally). Again I'm not sure exactly what frequency range, but it's the crispy highs, maybe 8-10k-ish?
This is the pedal board configuration that I’m currently using and I have to say that the Slampegg, UA and Finally work flawlessly. I’ve had the opportunity to put them through their paces for 3 hours a night for an entire month and they’ve proven themselves.
The sound engineer in the theater told me that he’s never heard a better bass sound - so clean and quiet. He doesn’t have to ride my gain as I control my own volume and dynamics from my volume pedal. He sets my maximum house volume and the rest is left up to me. I’m totally sold on the SB pedals. Thanks Nathan.

Pretty sure I'm visibly blushing. Thank you for sharing, I will never get tired of hearing things like that. So glad they're working well for you. As a sub-par non-gigging bassist I live vicariously through all of you, and I enjoy every bit.
Love that compact board. The Slampegg really intrigues me.. How does it stack up to the ampeg clones that have recently come out (origin, ampegg) Would love to see some comparison video! Being in the UK i tend to look out for some good Sushi deals over here and do hope to try one, although i did snag Nathan's Space Heater on garage sale
