The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

Help! I recently picked up a used, hand wired Slampegg. It's doing some weird stuff and wondering what's up.
Shoot me a PM, preferably with pictures of the inside of the pedal (with power removed) so I can take a look at the circuit board. We'll get it figured out.

Are there any YouTube reviews of the More pedal that you know of. I can’t seem to find any.
Not yet, but hopefully soon. I'm trying to get more videos out there, but the only formal ones that are out right now are Underground Accelerator, Finally, JC Emerald, Elementary, and of course Venus X. I have a couple More on the bench right now (one is already sold) and a bunch more circuit boards incoming, so that's one of the next ones I'd like to get out to a professional for a nice demo.

I want to purchase the Edison or More but first need to hear the More.

Just purchased a Finally from the classifieds and reading (skimming) through the archives here there was mention of some mods needing to be done to older runs of some pedals. Was the Finally part of that need and how would I determine the age/batch this one came from to see if it needs a mod? I am looking to downsize my board set up and hoping to replace a Khan with the Finally. The videos/demos I have seen seem promising.

Shoot me a picture of the circuit board, I'll let you know if it needs the mod and can let you know details.

Would love to know your thoughts of the Finally VS the Khan. I used to have a Khan and I miss it. Nice piece of gear. Finally looks great and ppl love it, also obviously much more affordable. Let me know what you think!
Starting to think apples vs oranges kind of thing. The Khan uses a 12AU7 tube so no grit. I do have a spare tube, maybe try that in the Finally when it arrives to compare apples to apples. Then again, one thing I have always wanted from the Khan was the ability to overdrive the tube some so we'll see.

Slampegg users- Can the slampegg run a lower gain tube in place of the 12ax7 like a 12at7 like you can in the UA?

Also EQ settings - both knobs at 12 o clock is flat, correct?

The sound of this thing is phenomenal, compared to the UA edge of breakup is a bit smoother and it has more fat/pillowy thing overall. I like it! However this is HW and my UA is regular. I think I like the more varied EQ options on the slampegg. The UA still slaps though just a bit different. Different flavored apples

I got it used and am having a little issue with it but Nathan at Sushi Box is graciously taking it in for a refit. That is fantastic service

yes. try it. be aware of the lower output though as it puts out less than other tubes. this has been discussed in past pages in this thread.

Fat pillow is perfect description. It makes me wonder how the softness is achieved.

Lower voltage tubes added some white noise for me.
A Genalex Gold Lion 12ax7 warmed the Slampegg nicely and left a lot of available gain. If there is such a thing as a Gold Lion 5751 I'd try that.

I run mine always on with a 12AU7 (a little under unity). Im in the minority but it works really well for me (lets me pull out that clean, gooey magic mojo).

Thanks for the insight - good info. Gold Lions on the radar

That's a step below an at7 right? Low output lol. But I may try that one too... I mostly run my UA with enough gain to bring in just a little grind when digging or hitting octaves or whatnot. I took the ax7 out and put a at7 in there and like it better. Good to hear I can find tune the slampegg too. Cheers

I use 12AU7's in my Slampegg, UA and Finally. 12AX and 12AT's were too hot for my liking, they distort too easily. I can drive the 12UA's and get good tube saturation before distortion and that happens when pushing them to their limits. I like the even harmonic enhancement that tubes give me but without distortion. Just my 2 cents...
