just finished building a second Bass Dude for myself since I had a friend buy one.

I recently got an Edison and have really enjoyed it. I'd like to snag a Slampegg to mess around with, but the More also sounds really tantalizing haha.

@Sushi Box FX - Quick question. I just acquired a UA Handwired and just want to make sure it has the polarity fix. Any way you can tell from these pics? Box says its 2023, so I think it should be good, but just wanted to validate.

IIRC everything as of Dec '22 was "fixed" from the get go.

It's harder to tell with the handwireds because the SMD components are on the other side of the board, but I can tell this is a 4-layer board and I know for a fact that all of the 4-layer boards have the fix built in.

I don't remember the exact date I switched everything over, but December 2022 sounds about right.

I had a dozen or so people try it, and feedback was 100% positive. On Saturday I had a guy come by every couple hours to ask if I was ready to sell it to him yet.

I want to make sure I have all the modifications I made documented so I can finalize the design, then probably do a formal release in the spring.

Yup, you'll want at least 500mA to make sure it heats up okay. Hope you enjoy it, the mini-tube Slampegg has a special something to it.

Went over pretty well, I'm really glad I made them. The booth behind mine was an amplifier company (super nice dudes, but absurdly loud), and with the headphone amps and some nice Audio Technica phones people were still able to get a good idea of the pedals' sounds.

Also, there were a number of people that came to ask about the headphone amps and didn't care about the pedals, as well as a number that tried the headphone amps and loved the sound, so now I'm considering updating the design with some useful features that would make it a releasable product. Ian Martin Allison came over and commented that he would love something like that as a practice tool, partially because he liked the aesthetic of it.

So short answer, they worked out well.

Long answer, I'm now thinking of adding:
  • aux in for practicing with a track
  • XLR out
  • dummy load (so it can be a standalone D.I.)
  • switchable stereo or bridged mono input (currently only works as bridged mono)
Also considering a different enclosure so I could fit the tubes and transformers inside the chassis for a sleeker look.

The headphone amp is not at the top of my priority list, but it's made its way to the list of things to poke at more.
