I used to begin most of my drunken diatribes to my friends with "alright, close your mind for a minute". Out of principle, I refuse to join the club, but I support the basis of the cause. I also predict that this club gets twisted within the next 24 hours and the thread closed shortly thereafter.

and it has taken you this long to come up with this idea.....why?!?!?! i figured that we would would have come up with this a hell of a lot sooner. oh well, i guess old age is slowin us down. :) brilliant. lets take bets on how quick this get censored by the mods!!!!!! hey, pm me your address again. care package on its way. that last part was for bassic83

I think the PC movement was well intended, but people forgot that it was meant to make people feel equal, instead of treating people differently.

The way I play it is this: I'm very Liberal, and I fully believe in free speech, freedom of thought, and the fact no-one has the right to not be offended. I may not be a Christian, but if someone says happy Christmas to me, I will take it as the friendly message it was meant to be, but it swings both ways if someone tries to preach to me I'll tell them why I think they are misguided.

I think the way to go is for everyone to learn not to get offended, as opposed to taking the hard route of trying not to offend anyone. I really hate people who pander to the complainers, but I do believe in at least attempting to get along.

One set of rules for everyone is what I say.

I call bullshot on the Non-PC club. If you guys think you are so non-PC, then I expect to see your charter feature the "n-word" for black people, the "k-word" for jewish people and the "f-word" for homosexuals. Until then, I say you are all talk an no action. If you are going to be non-PC then you better be non-PC. Otherwise, you just talk the talk. :)

Here's my gripe with the PC movement...

Fine...it is good to make certain terms of denigration unpopular. Its not putting things into law...it is making them culturally unacceptable. I believe people respond better to that, than being told that certain speech is illegal.

But now, you can be taken to court over a *verbal offense*. That is ridiculous. It is PC-ness taken too far.

We see more and more, instances where people were not actually harmed, just freaked out resulting in rules and laws being enacted. It shows up a lot in our schools and in our workplace. You have to worry about every word out of your mouth, for fear of offending someone and getting into actual trouble over it.

Its gone too far.

I use a Mac as well...

I'm also White... good friends with some Blacks... know a few Midgets and employ a Mexican as a housekeeper.

And being a Folically Challenged, Co-dependent, Factually unencumbered, Motivationally deficient, Musically delayed dude I can let you all know how I feel without hesitation.

I'm confused how "non-PC" seems to mean "I can push my Christian BS on other people and they can like it" for some of you. I'm looking forward to seeing how people respond to being wished a good Walpurgis.

I'm religion-free and don't celebrate holidays or even my birthday, but even i can't understand why non-christians get offended by "merry christmas."

"merry christmas" doesn't command you to celebrate, it doesn't imply that you celebrate; it just wishes you a pleasant and cheerful December 25, which is still christmas even if you don't celebrate it.

remember, saying something "offends" you is usually just a more pretentious or passive-aggressive way of saying you don't like something.
