One may be surprised to find me in this thread, as those who have read my posts on racism and such would probably think I am some sort of PC nut. Nope, and here's why:
Those who know me in real life know that I am probably one of the biggest non-PC people they've ever met. I've been known to actually go overboard and offend people who claim they don't get offended at anything

. I think PC was a good idea in practice, but now has been overblown and executed very poorly.
I think PC has gone overboard nowadays with terms like "vertically challenged" for "short" and not being able to display religious or cultural icons in schools, etc. What Bassic83 said I agree with 100 percent. I hate the ___-Americans. Me? I'm an American of Asian heritage. But I am an American, first and foremost. In fact, (ironically), the ___-Americans can be seen as more offensive because they imply that you are of another country or continent when you were actually born here and lived here your whole life.
My diatribes on racism and discrimination focused on hateful treatment. I crack quite a few racial jokes myself

in the company of friends, as they do too. That I see as harmless fun. What is harmful though, is when people actually start believing those things and have hatred and ill-will in their intent.
Overblown PC is bad for a couple of reasons. One, some of it is creepily bordering up on violating some Constitutional rights (that's all I'm gonna say about that one). Second, it actually
desensitizes people so if something serious does happen, people are able to shrug it off as "more PC BS".
My personal rule is "there's a time and place for everything". I try to refrain from swearing in front of little kids, etc. There is a huge difference, IMO, between tact and PC.
Do I get kicked out from the club now or do I get a membership card?
