I live in a Muslim country and I have lost count of the people who have wished me a merry Christmas just to be polite and civil and considerate. Also, I would submit that Muslims living in (for example) Britain are not overly bothered by Christmas celebrations (at least the ones I know aren't). The only ones who get their underwear in a wad are the (white English) PC crowd: not because they actually know that some are offended, but because they think that some might be offended but they are not prepared to actually go and find out.

They can't seem to see that just because they hysterically think Andy Pandy is a fascist and the Magic Roundabout denegrates women, then everybody else must have a similarly low tolerance threshold.

Whenever I think of PC, I automatically picture Ric from The Young Ones. Unfortunately, he seems to have multiplied.

Your example is a pretty poor one if you're trying to demonstrate that PC is about liberals whining. It's businesses that started using "Happy Holidays" instead of Merry Christmas, in order to appeal to the maximum number of people without risking offense. Then conservative Christians got their undies in a wad, because how dare Christmas not be recognized every second of the day, in every single public place, from Halloween through December 25th?:rolleyes: (And I'm a Christian, BTW.) So as has been pointed out repeatedly, PC is all about whose ox is being gored at that particular moment.

I think as soon as a person gets offended by a certain word and tries to stop people from using it, then they've just given it power.

There are some things in this world we spend a lot of time whining about like "oooh, it's a maintenance hole cover, not a manhole cover!" and then there are things we SHOULD be fighting to stop and not enough people do something about it. Like child abuse, or human trafficking, or fighting diseases. How about we stop worrying about "oooh, I'm so offended by what you said" and start saving lives?

If those people REALLY wanted to make this world better, they'd focus on something else. Just my opinion!

The old term differently-abled.

That's a good one. It suggests that someone that is disabled has some set of different abilities than the rest of us. When they don't, they just have less.

If for some awful reason I became disabled. I'd punch the first person to refer to me like that.

It's patronizing as hell. Sort of like raising your voice and speaking slower when your talking to a blind person.

This is the kind of PC that annoys me

Well we can't just let you or any one person decide what true religion is so I feel we just don't censor thoughts. Let them all protest. Finding one religious group who will claim another's religion is false is an easy thing to do. Just in Christianity there is not one faction that no other Christian faction claims is false. I think the golden rule can apply nicely to religious tolerance.

If you can approve of censoring one group it should be easy to accept others not being allowed to use the word Christmas in the workplace, if the rules were being applied as ideals or morals. I still feel it's not the place of the government to make those decisions.

There is either freedom of thought or not and if there is any group one decides does not have the right to speak, then those censoring are in the PC club IMHO.

Amen! Every time I have heard the they're stealing Christmas story it came from the right. I have no problem whatsoever with anyone saying Merry Christmasand find it a pleasant gesture, but trying to get the government to force others to also say it is sick.
