The Tesla and other Electric vehicle thread.....

A Chevy Bolt is more my speed and budget than a Tesla, but I can see an electric future. If anybody made an electric or even hybrid van, I would want one. Not a pickup or SUV. A van. Never mind the creepy factor, there are very few more useful vehicles than a white cargo van.

It looks like the Toyota-Subaru EV platform will spawn a van or two, but of course who knows what would be available in North America:

Just saw this on Twitter today. Again, no telling when they'll get here.

Re: "Tesla hate" - what's your take on this? Comedy or incitement to murder? I'm with the latter.

Sorry, I don't find it funny.

Way too much profanity and not enough comedy IMO. However, "incitement to murder" was not my take on it.

Sorry, I don't find it funny.

Neither did I. He most certainly won't get me to spend money on his show.

Tesla hate reminds me of the crap us long-time Mac users have had to put up with.

An interesting comparison indeed.

Having spent many years in the various aspects of laptop communities, I've never had a problem with Mac users. I did, however, have a *huge* issue with the cultists that were trying to take all the air out of the room and would happily burn one alive if any aspects of the design were questioned.

I've met some Tesla owners who would qualify as "cultists" in my book, but the same holds true for most other brands. And not just when it comes to cars, either. P-Bass with flats and tort, anyone...:D

My $0.02 only...

The "shoot them in the head and take their money" part is what I found rather offensive.

..and I bet I wouldn't have found any of them funny, either.

Different strokes and all that jazz...there's a lot of supposedly funny stuff that I never found comical, and am fairly certain that the same holds true for you and just about anyone else on this planet.

As I said, I don't like this man's style but I'm probably not his target market either. I wouldn't read too much into his intentions on any level or take him one bit seriously for that fact, but you do you.

Drove the ID.4 round trip today from Eugene (elevation 450 feet) to Odell Lake (elev 5000 feet). Started with 79% charge, ended with 31% charge. This is much better than I expected because I was driving in Sport Mode and with A/C on for the entire trip, using maximum energy. Didn’t do anything to conserve energy, no Eco nothing.

Nice! How many miles?

About 134. That may not seem impressive but all things considered it’s very consistent with the car’s EPA range of 250 miles. And again I was doing nothing to conserve energy like driving in Eco mode without A/C. I was really worried about the climb to 5000 feet but the return trip downhill made it all average out.

My friend with a Chevy Bolt thought I was crazy for trying this without a 100% charge. :D
