Hello all TE fans. I have a Quatra Valve and a 1153 cab. The handwritten serial no on my quatra says 682/0021. Can anyone tell me what year it is made?

The V8 manual says it's ok to run it at 4 ohms and use an 8 ohm cabinet. It's probably not ideal though.

This will shorten the service life of your power tubes. I recall having that conversation with Trace's service manager in the U.K. and he did say you could do it but it wasn't "optimal".

Know anything of my combo? V-Type 4808, 4x8", 300w MOSFET output stage, Celestion BG8 - 60 drivers, made in late '96. Thats all I know... Any more would be grand...

And THANKS for the info you *have* supplied! I'm in the process of selling my 4x8" extension cab and I knew very little about where it came from etc. but thanks to you I now know more...

I phoned GM Audio to ask about replacement speakers for this cab at one point (the actual problem was a loose wire) and they were very perplexed about it. Seems they couldn't remember even having built 4x8" cabs! They're a great place to get info, servicing help etc. In the end Celestion didn't have replacements for the BG8-60's and GM's only advice was to try replacing them with Ashdown Blue Line speakers. Very helpful guys though.

I have a QuatraValve as well. My serial # 682/0171 and was built in '92. I would think yours should be a '91 or a '92.

But who owns them? Didn't Gibson officially just stop Trace or something (That's what I read on here the other day) or are they continuing the Trace line now.. Or is it under someone else?

Hmmm... "designed in Essex England" and a ".co.uk" address. I wonder if there's anything more to it than that? There is no link from the Gibson page, but perhaps that's just clever marketing. Sorry - I'm ever the skeptic.

Yes. My Quatra is loud as hell with my 1x15. When I hook up the 2x15 it really becomes a powerhouse.
