Actually it's 160W @ 2ohms. I personally have tried this and you can definitely see the difference.
Then that effectively kills that option. I may see if they rent QSC dual channel power amps and go that route.

YBA200 guys....I'm considering going back to tubes by trading my GK1001RB-II for a YBA200. Will I be losing too much volume? (all gigs are PA supported). My cab is an SWR Goliath Sr. (6X10")
Thanks,
-Barry-
Tough call. I have a GK1001-RB right now (not the II) and the YBA-200 was the amp before it. They are very close in volume, the Gk is probably a hair louder. Close enough that I would feel fine using either one for a gig (the cab would be the limit, I have an Ampeg 6x10 as well)
anderson, my rig was the yba200 with the goliath sr before all my gear got stolen three weeks ago. i would KILL to have this rig back. it sounds so effing good together. the natural transparency of the goliath cab (as compared to the ampeg cab i have now) really lets the tubeyness of the yba to shine. i've never really had much experience with gk stuff, but i can tell you that the yba/goliath sr combo is a VERY good sounding rig
So I think Traynor would be perfect for me. It's pretty cheap, not too heavy and tubey. It's just that I have no idea what cab to pair it with. I live in Finland, and there's no way to get my hands to cabs like Sunn, MusicMan or stuff like that. I would get bergantino NV610, but I highly doubt I see those around here anytime soon. So I narrowed it down to few alternatives..
1) Ampeg HLF610 (I can't really carry 810 around)
2) Eden (some 4x10)
3) Something else? What?
All help is appreciated.![]()
Gotcha....I think I'll probably hang on to the 1001RB-II. I've got a BDI with tube emulation that gets me a pretty close tube tone and I've finally gotten my eq dialed in perfectly for my Gibson Thunderbird.
So, I was starting to think the YBA200 was a big mistake it sounded bad at gigs, overloaded every cab I tried with it (including matching trayors), and generally made my old Yorkville 100w solid state combo look like a sweet and amazing little rig (which it is, but that's not the point).
Then the YBA200 failed onstage at a festival, crackling and hissing, and forcing me to shut down, @#$%. etc.
So, off to Long and McQuade it was bought used two months back but has a year warranty.
Got it back last night. The difference is amazing it's creamy, clean and thundering, without reducing the speaker into flatulating mush.
The tech sheet included fixing "open rectifier", replacing all four power tubes, testing the whole amp, and so on. $350 worth of work for free. Nice.
I'm blown away by how good this thing sounds when it works, and I'm back to being giddy about choosing the right cab. I play alt. country/50s rock, Fender P-bass.
I'm using the Traynor 115 right now. Nice weight, but does it let this amp shine?
My other choices are a used Aguilar GS212 or an Aguilar 410 - the latter is really heavy.
Or, Fender makes a 410 bassman, only 70 lbs. and cheap, new.
And thoughts, suggestions?
Thanks,
Mike

A question for any YBA200-2 owners:
Is there a metal grill on the rear of this amp as well as its front?
Sorry, that's 12 oclock, not 12. Spinal Tap, I'm not.
