Tell me more about this bass starting at 3:47 in this video - is it a 35 in scale, woods, electronics, standard (19mm) spacing, etc...? It sounds AMAZING!



Not surprisingly, my favorite tones in this video came from Valenti's.

And is the blue vintage at 4:23 Peter's?

At the moment, it doesn't, but that can be easily changed.

Hey all
I am exploring the possibility of ordering a bass from Nino. I am interested in a 5 string jazz bass. Can anybody give me an idea what the 5 string jazz necks feel/shape is.

Fast! They're usually 18mm spacing, and now Nino has 35" and 24 fret models. Slimmer than a Fender neck to be sure.

19mm is standard on my 5's w/18mm as an option.

I use a shallow C shape neck. Available nut widths are 1-7/8" and 1-3/4".

opps sorry fellas, I stand corrected. And I had to measure #067 to be sure I wasnt freaking out, 19mm it is. My other J5 is also 19mm and the Valenti neck 'feels' slightly narrower and quicker, to the point I would have guseed 18 or 18.5mm.

Yet I stand by my "fast" characterization and I'll add 'comfortable' for those 2-3 hr runs. And my last comparo was after playing a bass retailing $1000+ more than a Valenti for 2.5 hrs straight. OMG, it was like taking doughnuts off a baseball bat. Seriously.

Compared to my Alleva, and Sadowsky J5's, the Valenti is both a little narrower, and maybe even a little shallower.
Still 19mm spacing though.

In an interesting turn of events, I ended up switching pickups in it, from Sadowsky HC5s to Nordstrand NJ5s, in the midst of the sessions, so there are a couple tracks with each. It sounds pretty good either way!

All newer Valenti 5's with 19mm bridge spacing will have a 3" heel so it won't feel as narrow as the older ones.
