Hey guys,

I just unpacked the bass, and this thing is awesome! Of course all I have right now is a cell phone pic, but my roommate has a nice camera so I'll have him snap a couple shots when he gets home. I'll also throw some sound clips together once I figure out how to play on roundwounds again!

Kudos to Nino and to the seller, Snaxster.

Your not to far from were I am, if you ever want to try out some of Nino's other basses (or leave yours with me :D ) give me a shout!

6 mo update on my Valenti purchase...

I have played a bass other than my VTP5 at a gig for one whole set in 6 mos (I picked up the black Lakland JO5 once when I thought I had a short in the output jack-I didn't, it was the cord). Every gig I take out a Lakie and swear that I am going to use it for a set. Then 2AM rolls around and I realized I played the VTP5 all night again. This, I think, is the sign of a superior bass. :)

Other than some initial pickup adjustments for my amplifier's pre-amp, lowering the action a smidge (it could go even lower if I wanted it to) and changing to the tort guard (I ordered it with black), I've not had to do a single thing to this bass. I pick it up, play, wipe it down and get ready for next weekend's show. The only way I could recommend Nino's basses any more than I do is if they were free (in which case, I'd have 10!). Thanks again, Nino!

I'm sure you meant that with positive intention. It's strange to me, maybe from an Ayn Randian perspective, that you think an instrument of this quality should be free. Nino does excellent work, and his materials are of top quality. He provides a valuable skilled service and should be properly compensated for it, in my view. You probably prefer to be paid when you play a gig, is my guess.

I'm glad you like your bass, though!

Errrr, Yes. I meant it only in the sense that if they were free (and I dunno how those conditions are created, perhaps he becomes a billion dollar lotto winner and has a vision where he gives away basses??!) that is the only way they would become an even greater value to the consumer. His instruments are fairly priced and superior to many brands priced at much higher points. It was not a complaint, just a flippant comment... and perhaps wishful thinking!

(insert Atlas shrugging here) :)

1. Valenti Basses has cut out the middle-man. Beginning 1/1/11, I have decided to sell Direct Only. Since I no longer have to offer dealers discounts, I am able to lower my prices.

2. I have redesigned my 34" basses (except the 24F5)

Here are photo's of 34" 5's. I had customers comment that the pickguard on the 34" 5's was a little smaller than my 35" counterpart and the control plate doesn't follow the edge of the body like the 35" J5.

Here is a CAD image of my newly designed 34" VTJ5. Pickguard and control plate layout are now identical to the 35" 5's.

3. I have slightly changed the VMJ4/VMJ5 & SMJ4/SMJ5. This is my 21 fret Modern body style (downsized). I have made the treble cutaway a little deeper for easier access to the 21st fret. This is will be standard on the on this Model. The older shallower cutaway will be available as an option.

4. New Nut and Heel widths. A 3" 5 string neck heel will be standard for 19mm bridges. A 2-7/8" 5 string neck heel will be standard for 18mm bridges. 1 3/4" nut width is now available on all 5 string.

5. 24 fret basses are available.
