The Valenti Megathread Part III

One has bigger tuning posts than the other, and a different string retainer. They combine to trick your eyes.
I know Nino ships his basses with 45-130 gauge strings for his 5 strings, any of you experiment with lighter gauge strings? I usually play lighter myself and prefer my action pretty low as well.

They look to be in roughly the same position but as DS stated, different tuning keys and string tree.
Also, these 2 basses were built using 2 different neck suppliers.

I appreciate that Nino. If you think you can get the action low with the standard strings that you normally use, maybe I will try those first. In the past I have used DR high beams and the gauge was 40-120 (40,60,80,100,120). I haven't really experimented in a while because my Dingwall takes special strings, those are on the lighter side though too.
Let me know what guage strings you prefer and I'll use that guage.
Nino, you're still Da Man!!! I need another Valenti even though I'm freakin dirt poor right now. (I work in the Japanese auto industry which has taken a hit after the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.)

I see she talked her way back into your arms. They have a way of doing that. #046 did that to me on several occasions when I tried to sell her. I just knew #100 was a better fit... the only way I could justify parting with #046. Hope you are enjoying her. If someday you're not, I expect a PM.

Yeah, I've tried three times to sell #51 and I can never bring myself to do it. For one thing, it serves a purpose - it's my only J and it's the one I always take to a new gig.
For another, it would be tough to imagine a better version of that instrument. Just nothing not to like about it.

Yeah, I can't wait either. Yours should be sweet, I like the 59 burst and most of the vintage burst finishes I have seen.
