The Valenti Megathread Part III

This might be a funny story on both the Valenti and Sadowsky forums.

Last night I subbed with a blues group; I hadn't played with them before and knew none of them except the drummer.

I had my Valenti J5 for the gig, and I took it out of the case. The guitarist is a Strat guy and has one that appears to be 40 years old if a day. He's talking about his guitar to the singer, and I can tell he's a gear guy.

He sees my bass and seems to like it. He says "hmm, I've never seen a Valentine [sic] before. Is that a custom job?"

I say "sort of. Nino Valenti builds these to order." Then, in an attempt to generate some kind of brand recognition, I say "Nino also works in Roger Sadowsky's shop."

Nothing. Blank stare. So then I punted and said "it pretty much sounds like a Fender", and we went on with a nice evening.

We bass players live in our own world, don't we.

Mine is still a few months out, but I love seeing the pics of everyones basses too. What are the specs on your bass?

Swamp Ash Body
‘59 Burst
Maple Neck with Graphite Reinforcement
Rosewood Fretboard
Pearloid Block w/White Binding
Tortoise Pickguard
Nordstrand NPJ5S Pickups
Passive with V/V/T

Cant wait to get her in my hands and out to a gig. Put the order in mid February.
What about yours Green?
-Chad?

Yeah, I can't wait either. Yours should be sweet, I like the 59 burst and most of the vintage burst finishes I have seen.

That's why I have used Valentis (all but #096).... I can not wait that long.. I am a little anxious person so... I admire you guys.

#096 is as custom as I could get it.. thank God Nino chose the SAME specs I wanted ont he bass so for me it was the same thing as ordering it since the specs would have been identical.. also Nino gave me the chance to do preamp and pickups combinations as I wanted so I got my dream bass :)

Kudos to you Nino!!! :bassist::bassist:
Everytime I play my Valentis I get compliments on the tone and I also love the way they feel, play and sound. and I am not a good bass player at all.. I am kinda sucky but the Valentis help me big time to focus the atention on the sound :) LOL :bassist::bassist::D

Trujo,
I can wait, although it hasn't been easy, if i know that the finished product is coming through Nino's hands. After reading all the reviews and threads, the decision was a no brainer.
Heres to 6-9 more weeks, ha.
