Maybe. Especially since Carey has a new preamp desinged similar to an Early 2 Band 70's Ray.

fykozonisz just placed an order for a V24FJ5 with the Nordy MM preamp, an MM5.2 and a MM style pickguard:

The picguard and controls are just a really bad rough drawing just to get the idea across. :)

my first one was given to me in a trade.. that was 4 Valentis ago.

From those I still keep 3.
they are awesome basses and Nino is great to deal with.
I have gotten more compliments on the feel and tone of my Valentis than on my other basses of more recognized brands.
And... if you have something in mind specific.. Nino will build it to your specs.. scale length, block, binding, woods, electronics, pick ups, pick guards...etc... a custom bass to you :)

Yeah, Nino has been great to work with. I'm very excited about this bass.....especially because it will be a custom, as you said :bassist:

Hmm....not bad my friend!
You should see if you could maybe get a shape a little closer. But I guess a P-Bass style body would be wouldn't it???

Actually, with the Nordy MM pick-up in mine and the Sadowsky pre, it's right there for that MM tone.

I ordered mine never having seen or played one. IMO, the risk is low if you understand what you're ordering and work with Nino on the woods and electronics choices. Clearly, it's a Fender clone, high grade materials, shallow C neck, with your choice of pickups and preamps. Nino's basses deliver solidly against that model.

I've owned a number of very nice J and P clones. Most notably an ash/maple 70s spacing and alder/rosewood 60s spacing Alleva Copollos. I brought those two basses to the NYC gtg and after meeting Nino and playing his basses I came home with one of his basses and sold one of my ACs.

If you know the bass formula that you want Nino will deliver you a well executed bass no doubt. If your not sure about wood types and electronics he'll help you work it out although having a good idea of exactly what you are looking for is most important.

I've played a bunch of Nino's basses now, and have always been impressed (especially with ones that have Nordstrand Big Singles in them). His is one of the only brands I've really wanted to own but still haven't gotten around to yet.

I've had 5 now; all of which I bought used (sorry Nino!)

You can spec materials and electronics to mimic any number of other boutique basses, and then spend less to get a bass of equal quality. The two I have will solidly hold their own against anything else in my toolbox.
