Nino told me that his standard body is the USACG Jay Jr., which is a downsized jazz body. #003 is a full-size jazz body, which is available from USACG. Whether Nino would use one of those on request I will leave to him to answer. Personally I prefer the downsize. It looks like a full-size jazz that has been working out a little.

Hey Nino... I know you moved over to USACG now, but it seems that for special basses that require a certain feature that only Warmoth offers (like T's) you will go back there, so why not go back there for binding and blocks on necks?

I don't understand what you mean?

I haven't used Warmoth in a while. The last bass I used with Warmoth was bass #045 which was ordered on 10/5/6. This was right before I decided not to use them any longer.

Things I don't like from Warmoth:
Heavy Steel stabilizing bars
10" Radius only
When every I wanted a special pickup placement, it would be an upcharge that would be added on to the price of the bass
Chunky 4 string necks
Chunky asymetrical 5 string necks

I've had 2 customer professionally have their 5 string necks shaved by Mike Dolan.

My current basses have a sharper body edge radius that I like the look of. It gives it an, IMO, more modern look.

The rounder edge radius is an option.

#008 has the Dolan-ized neck. frankly, I couldnt imagine the stock Warmouth neck. Assymetrical ones feel best to me.

I LOVE this bass. One thing I'll end up asking Nino is if a new brdge piece for the "G" string can be made with the guide maybe 0.20" inboard is all. The bridge spacing is such that there are times that a good slap attack on the G string will slide your fingers off the board, since the string is so close to the edge. I know most 5'ers have that issue to some extent. And I'm being real nit-picky.

great bass! Great luthier. Cant find a nice vintage P 5'er, so once the warchest is back up to snuff..... NINO!!!!

W/ bindings. Man I wish #008 had bindings. I love binding on the neck.

Nino, fwiw, after Mike and whomever worked this bass, my local luthier had to work it to get the action C hair high like I like it. I couldnt tighten the neck enough to lay the baord down to near zero relief. All set now, but Mark had to reset(shim) the neck and dress frets in the 12-15 register up. I have no doubt it left your hands in perfect mint shape.

Mark was saying that birds eye sometimes reacts funny to being worked or even under tension, as the grain, and therefore force vectors, are non-linear. ???

Whatever, thats why you guys are around! The action is as low, or lower than I got the Lakland, and its wicked fast. Now I need another 300w for the headroom since my touch has gotten so light with this bass.

A tribute to its workmanship and playablility!

Bet this one is downsized, since it slips off my leg ( unslung) easier than my mexi Pbass.

That's exactly how my Ibanez Prestige is... You don't even have to slap it to have the string slip off the fretboard.

When I first got my bass I wanted to sell it just because of the G string. But I got used to it and sorta edited my playing when I was on the G string...

Ah... memories. This used to me mine. :crying: I'm glad to see it's getting good action, and that it's got great action.
