The only things I could come up with are, it's either left over zombie goo on Ricks knife, or the virus built up in Shanes system and is only relesed after he died. But still, that was way to quick.

What an episode. The cinematography of the scene with Rick and Shane was phenomenal.

Of course it's a bit suspect to me that Carl got an easy headshot from that distance with no recoil problems, but then again, I can't nitpick on every detail.

As far as Shane turning from Rick's knife, that makes sense, but what about Randall? I'm under the impression he died from having his neck broken, but then was reanimated? Daryl was saying how there was no noticeable bites or anything.

Yeah I'm curious about that too. But I have a couple theories.

Theory 1. The kid was bitten before he got there, but I'm that's suspect because they clearly rescued him, and he didn't seem sick. Or theory 2. All the people from that kids camp we're over run and infected and they smelt his body when he died and infected him (although no bite marks). So, I uh... I got nothing.

They've been forshadowing this.
Back when Rick and Shane tried to take Randall away (and got into the big fight), they commented how the two zombified security guards they killed curiously had no bite marks.

Everyone is infected. This is most likely what the CDC guy told Rick last season. Every living person has gotten infected by whatever the virus is. So regardless how you die if the brain is left you will return as a zombie.

So if everyone is infected, as the CDC director may have told Rick, perhaps the group has some sort of immunity that protects them until death.

I called the knife thing. The whole scene where Rick intructed Shane to kill the zombie through the fence was too contrived to not have been a setup.

If this is true, then all survivors should be executed with a head shot on their death beds.
