Apologies if I misread, but I didn't start this thread months ago to get it shut down this close to the end because of a dispute about racist characters in movies.
Darth has been digging Merle since day one. I suspect his post about the return of Merle was not because of the characters racist leanings. Your post suggested otherwise.
I have really tried with this show. Honestly, I have.
But it is just too dull to stick with, and the characters are starting to grate on me a little too much. Actually, where I am "The Walking Dead" took over the same slot as "Justified", and the difference in the quality of the writing was like night and day. I really think that a zombie show should have quite a bit of zombie action (silly of me, I know), or at least some "Day of the Dead" style gristle. Now, a zombie show with "Justified" type characterization and dialogue would be much more entertaining.
The show also clashes with "Doctor Who", and sad though this may be to admit, the Doctor's adventures are much more satisfying to watch despite their less "edgy" pitch.

The first season was a lot more "zombie-heavy", this past season was much much less so. While I'm still enjoying the show personally, I'm also hoping that it will pick up soon. The character development is fine so long as that's not ALL the show is. Too much zombie action and you have nothing more than an hour-long PS3 zombie-shoot game, too little and you have a "soap opera" which is very close to what it's fast becoming...
Dr Who - I'm a Dr Who fanatic but Matt Smith is really losing me. His Dr Who role started out excellently but now I find myself bored with the guy's portrayal. Bring back David Tennant.
I have all the comic books and have loved it for a while. The show is completly different as far as story line but the feel of it is the same. This was never invented as a normal zombie show. It was a bood about human nature and how we react to stressful situations. The forward in the first book says "if your looking for the blood and guts zombie book, your in the wrong place." I love what they have done so far.
I do too, but there has to be a balance and I think it's starting to tip the wrong direction. That said, I'm hearing some rumors about season 3 and if they're true, it might be mind-blowing....
Well, if you've read the comic book, you'll know that there's some interesting settings, an arch-villain type and huge actions involving walkers ahead, supposedly the tv version is going to remain true to that aspect of the comic... that's all I'm saying at this point.
They will be leaving the farm at some point and moving to a more of a bunker type situation and militant type people once the farm gets over run. That is if they go the comic book direction.

You know what, I've thought about a Dr Who thread but didn't think there'd be much interest. Tom Baker rules. Met him several times and he's a super nice fellow. My favourite 'new' Dr Who is actually Christopher Ecclestone. Very underrated.

By all means, start the Dr Who thread! maybe do a poll as to who the best dr is??
I agree 100% about Christopher Ecclestone. My own personal opinion is that it's because he was followed by David Tennant who did a superb job, had David Tennant only been mediocre, then Ecclestone would have been far more recognized.

It bears repeating that the human dynamics are the priority of the graphic novel and the show, don't expect that to change much.
If I need more gore, movies like the Living Dead series and Planet Terror fit the bill nicely.
It also bears repeating that the human dynamics of this show suck. Tegzsa's right. These charcters have all the charisma of an artichoke.
The wife & I have come to the point where we're alternating between laughing at what comes out of these "actor's" mouths and telling them to just shut up. And because they've buggered up the human element, even the zombie scenes are dull. Dale gets ripped apart, we're like, "meh". I would never have stuck with it this long if it didn't have zombies in it, & I'm an episode or two away from pulling the pin. Which sucks, because the idea of sitting down to watch a good zombie show every Sunday night is about as appealing as it gets.
Ya this is about how I feel.
I don't like any of the characters, and find my attention wandering as I watch the show.

I've been thinking about it and since the governor is in season three maybe the other group are tied to him. Looks like the two groups are gonna meet in the last episode (if the kid does escape in the next one like they implied).
