The Walking Dead Series 2

....or was it?

Why did all of those walkers congregate in the building? Who/what were the burned up bodies???

the front gate WAS locked. maybe they locked walkers inside the building, locked the gate and ran like hell. could have been the 2 cops. got too close, got scratched and turned lamebrain.

then they come in, look around, get in a fight, smash the window and all hell breaks loose.

Well, holy ****. I really liked Dale. I think the boy is trying to prove himself too much. I think he is headed in the right direction, though. He will need that kind of non-emotionalism in his life ahead but he needs to find his balance first.

That kids as stupid as his mom. All emotions and no brains.

Anyone else feel like they were trying to make up for the lack of action in the episode with the shock of killing off Dale? I liked him, too....
Also, someone really needs to discipline that kid. All he did the whole episode was mess stuff up...

I don't know, man. I agree that the mother is very irrational in most of her decision making but Carl sees both sides. He is still very young, though. I think he's starting to see that cold blood will keep you alive but you need the emotion for your family. I think all the characters are struggling with that. Well, now that Dale is gone.

Notice how Rick couldn't finish Dale off, and Daryll had to do it for him..

Notice how the expression on Dale's face when his guts were hanging out was exactly the same as nearly every other scene he'd been in since the show's inception? Mrs Handsome & I had a chuckle over that.

On the bright side, Darryl got some screen time for once, taking care of alllll the dirty work. That character is f'n nails.

So, I'm bummed about Dale's death. He really seemed like the voice of reason (or at least, I found myself agreeing with him frequently), and I'm concerned about who's going to take over that role in the group. Hopefully one or more of the characters will turn to adopt his rationality in response to his death. Rick seemed out of character in this episode. Much less middle ground. Perhaps to heighten the dynamic with Dale.

Also, side issue: One of the things that bugs me in zombie films is the absolute inaccuracy in dismemberment scenes. It's as if human skin is cheesecloth, barely containing our organs inside. Walking Dead had been doing a pretty good job of this until recently. Dale's evisceration was silly. Has anyone ever tried to rip through an abdominal wall with their bare hands? We're fragile beings for sure, but not that fragile. There's a reason we developed tools. It's because our claws, teeth, and strength are insufficient to easily rip through muscle tissue, yet somehow the dead are able to do it with ease?

That's of course ignoring the irreality of the "Walking" dead in the first place, but suspension of disbelief is of course a necessity for full enjoyment.[/rant]
