Hey Muddslide..That is a total Warmoth paint job over swamp ash.They did a heck of a job.I normally do my own paint work with nitro,but I saw this body in the Warmoth showcase and had to have it.I always wanted a 78 Antigua,but the prices are out of sight and most are beat up and discolored from years of bar use.The pickups a hand made by Curtis Novak.Check out his website.He builds the greatest pickups around.He's built Jazz Bass pickups for me as well.These pups are the Charlie Christian model.Invalid Link Removed

Here's a picture of the pickup...a little taller than a stock P Bass pup..but fits just fine under the hood.

Royal series came after this. Marleaux Pagelli was really Pagelli's instrument/concept and he got together with Marleaux to produce a cost effective version of the bass for the masses. You don't really see much of these or hear much about them. Not sure if it ever really got off the ground, but this all started somewhere around 2002 musik messe.

It's just stunning. My favorite Fender finish. There is another forumite who has a '78 antigua P w/ unmarked fretless maple neck, or are you the same guy? I thought the other person I'm thinking of (I can't recall his name) had an all-original '78, but I don't know.

At any rate, I'm thinking of slowly putting together my dream bass over the next couple of years and I believe my first order of business is the antigua P-body from Warmoth. Do they do nitro as well?

Anyways friend, you have (IMO) the best looking fretless here.

Completely molten hot! While also being as classy as they come.
