Good answers.Beat me to it...!
It's a platinum leaf plating, it's like gold plating, just with platinum instead of gold. This bass is definitely the first one where this technique has been used, and according to Jens Ritter it was quite a job. There is a coat of clear gloss on top of the platinum, works really well.
Sorry about that...! Can't blame you, I have been posting the pics like crazy since I got it, and I've been lucky not to have had too many complaints about it - obviously, this bass is not for everyone. That's why I bought it for me
Again, sorry - although I didn't post it in this thread
You don't notice them at all when wearing the bass, not standing or sitting - they're too far back. They don't stick out so much that you could hurt yourself, and the tuners are pretty tight, so you need to use a bit of force to tune it as the tension on the tuners is set now. But I thought about the same thing before I got it
The finish is not for everyone, but I think the platinum color goes insanely well with the purpleness of the fingerboard
I'm not sure a natural all-mahogany body (which is what's beneath the plat) would look as good with it.
But to get around the problem, I have a regular fretted 5-string Roya on order which will sport the same Purple Kingwood for fretboard and natural woods - purpleheart body and birds eye maple top!![]()

what the conversion for Pounds to u.s. dollars?

NEMO - Tell me more about this one...
I want to know about the fretted/fretless configuration - if that's what is actually going on there...

Just a fancy line config.
That's what I thought. It just doesn't make a lot of sense to have frets configured in that sort of pattern.
Thanks!
