The worst cover songs ever released.

Marilyn Manson's Sweet Dreams cover - absolutely disgusting.
Orgy's Blue Monday cover - revolting.

Any hot topic/nu-metal/emo/wannabe black metal goth cover of a Cure song or New Order song - barf. No thanks. That being said, the aforementioned songs are not the worst covers ever - the Feldman cover seems to be a front runner for someone trying to be something they're not. It's one thing if you have musical talent and record a cover that's well done, but people don't like it - it's another where the performance itself is just terrible.

You really don't like orgy's cover of blue monday? I thought it was a great cover. I'm not really a marilyn manson fan, but I thought his cover of sweet dreams was okay. but it don't impress me that much.

I do agree with you about the corey feldman cover thing. the cover does make corey sound like he's somebody that he's not. artists should always be true to their music. not matter what. I mean I can understand trying something a little different once in a while, but this was just out of the field. it just doesn't sound like something he would do.

It actually does make a whole lot of sense for him to cover that song in particular according to his autobiography (which is a great read by the way). There's a personal connection from his early days.

That said, I actually like the cover... same goes for No Doubt's cover of "It's my life", but maybe I just like the song itself because there's such a sweet bassline in it, so I dunno...

Pearl Jam - "Last Kiss"
Guns 'N' Roses - "Knockin' On Heavens Door"
Ugly Kid Joe - "Cats In The Cradle"
Big & Rich - "You Shook Me All Night Long"
Rockwell - "Big Mountain - "Baby I Love Your Way"
R.E.M. - "Toys In The Attic"
Cure - "Purple Haze"

I have to answer that. The worst cover ever in my book was recorded by my favorite band. That's the only song recorded by The Beatles that I really hate: Mr. Moonlight, from The Beatles For Sale album. I have all Beatle albuns on my MP3 player, and started to listen 'For Sale' again after I took off that dread song and put in 'Leave My Kitten Alone'. Oh my God, I hate Mr. Moonlight since I was a kid!

Hi.

Can't believe that in a forum filled with SciFi fans no one has mentioned a word about "Captain Kirk" trying his wings in "singing".

I was searching Shatners 70's recordings, esp. Sinatras "My Way" for You to enjoy, when I stumbled into this gem:

Dear Lord make him STOP singing.

Regards
Sam

Money - Flying Lizards

I dont mind either of those too much.
Manson's cover of 'American Jesus' or 'Tainted Love' would more readily qualify IMO.
