The worst cover songs ever released.

In the spirit of the "Worst Band Ever" thread, I want to hear what people think are the worst covers ever and why.

Me:

Whiskey in the Jar. Metallica. They took Thin Lizzy's interpretation of the Irish folk song and took it from a lament full of both despair, and joy and turned into another snarl fest with no insight into what that song is about. Despicable.

Then there's "Bad Company" by Five Finger Death Punch. As if that sophomoric band name isn't enough, they take a song that was an entertaining homage to the old west outlaws and spaghetti westerns and turned it into a complete joke; an hell dog growl with none of the original appeal remains, just nastiness. That over blown grunt about "we all gotta die" is the limit. Just pitiful.

I haven't heard it in a long time, but I still really hate Madonna's version of American Pie. Totally bloodless, and completely unnecessary. I don't mind if a cover is bad as long as it's trying to DO something with the material, and Madonna kept it as bland as humanly possible.

Though I've gotta say, I'm not too fond of the original version anymore either.

There are probably worse cover songs out there, but Phil Collins' version of "True Colours" (Cyndi Lauper) is just the most flaccid, lifeless version of a song that never needed to be recorded.

Nope, horrific yes, but Metallica covers are worse.

Mariah carey's cover of def leppard's bringing on the heartbreak. oh dear god this cover sucks. there's nothing rocking about this cover. all mariah carey did with this song is that she just honeyed up the song. and the only part of the song that even has a guitar part was a gutiar solo provided by dave navarro. and there's some acoutic guitar was in the song. everything else is just sugar-coated keyboard parts. I first heard this cover from a vh1's 40 least metal moments and It was just terrible. I let my brother check out the song and he was disgusted by the song. I remember for a few weeks, my brother and I were making fun of mariah carey cause of that song. we were making fun of the high notes she hits on that song. here's the song in case you guys are curious on how bad this cover is. all I can say is it's been butchered by the sugar-coated styling of mariah carey.
