I’m gonna chase it.

That is all.

I had a rooster that took up residence in my back yard in my previous house. Called animal control. They came out, didn't find it, but left a ticket on my front door, saying I had to get rid of the rooster. I called the police station, and had to explain that I was not the owner of the rooster; I was the person who wanted it removed. Eventually, I got to the Sergeant on duty, and after a while, he asked "So, what you'r really asking is for me to fix your rooster ticket?". We did eventually get a laugh out of that, once he understood what had happened.

Animal control was not that helpful - they called me a couple times after they'd come out to investigate - "cant find him". I asked when they came out - they said 9 AM. I informed them that he announce his position every 10 to 15 seconds at 5 AM; maybe they could come out then. They weren't so keen on that idea.

Too many coyotes and foxes around here for those delicacies to roam freely.

Have you found the nest?

I have this sick and twisted breakfast I eat from time to time (not very often since I found out I inherited my father's high blood pressure). Around here we have lots of Bojangles fast food joints. I'll order a cajun chicken fillet biscuit with egg.

There's something very satisfying.... very top-of-the-food-chain.... about taking down two generations of chicken with one biscuit. ;)

@Chicory Blue don't name them or you'll never eat them. :roflmao:

Seriously, don't feed them or they'll be under your feet every time you come home. No joke.

I'm constantly amazed at the number of chickens that live within a 5 mile radius of downtown Houston.

i'm not.

i had pet chicks when i was a kid. our class in first grade hatched chicks, then a few weeks later asked for volunteers to take 'em. we were in the middle of west l.a., not exactly known for its livestock. my parents were the only parents who volunteered, so we got the entire flock of 4 of them. we kept them till the young rooster began to crow all the time, then put them in a bird sanctuary.

when i was 18 and up, my then-husband and i had some chickens just outside of l.a., theoretically for eggs, but in truth, they were pets, also. no roosters.

and in another los angeles chicken story, our landlord's assistant decided to keep his rooster under our rented house. when i told the landlord there was a crowing rooster driving me crazy, he asked his assistant if he had put a bird under the house. the reply i've remembered verbatim all these years - he said "no bird, just rooster".

and twice i've seen somebody's chicken just walking up the street in the middle of west l.a. * LOL *

A buddy found 3 orangutans in his backyard and asked "what should I do?". I replied "round 'em up and take 'em to the zoo". The next day, there's my buddy and the 3 orangutans but each one is carrying a bucket and a shovel. I asked "thought you were gonna take 'em to the zoo?!?". My buddy replied "I did...we had such a good time that today we're going to the beach".

An old joke but I'm an old guy...don't forget to tip your waitstaff.
