My favorite part was the math calculations:
"We figure that a minimum market of 1% is 3 million sales at $1.00 a song you have 3 million dollars".

Too bad that in the real world, the band doesn't make a $1 per song, actually more like 1 cent per song
after the middle men take their cut.

I think they'd be better off hitting up their family and friends for funding.

I haven’t actually done it, as I have zero songs to sell in 30 years of playing (augh!), but if you use a site like iTunes (or is that going away?), then people pay $1/song. I think there are services out there like DistroKid and others that will host (?) your upload for distribution at a reasonable cost. So you would be getting close to $1/song if you sold a bunch. Again though, I haven’t gone through the weeds to see how it all actually plays out.
