Them that fear reading music.
When Band Leader throws some papers at you and says, "We are doing this tonight." and you have never heard it before, you will be glad you knew where to go, when to stop and start up again by reading a piece of paper.

No, reading will not make you a better player. It just tells you what to do, the rest is on you.

But, if you can not read the new songs and do not play them well trying to "Make it work" then you will not be in that group for long, or will fail the auditions and The Guy that can read will take your place.

If you are just in your house for fun, then do whatever you want. Read, do not read, I do not care.

For the above situations reading does make you a "Better" candidate for the job.

Using music other than the original on the tv. On the daily show with Jon Stewart they used a snippet of Back in Black as an intro whenever they had Lewis Black do his shtick, but it was not AC/DC’s version.

I watched Into the Wild, but I was clueless that people took that foolish guy seriously. He basically ignored good advice & got himself knee-deep in his own problem & eventual death.
At the time I was puzzled, because I thought the guy was supposed to actually do something out there, connect with the animals or something, but he just mucked it all up & for nothing.
To know people idolize him for it is even more puzzling.

Not directly related, but I'm reminded of young "gap year" adults coming to Thailand & basically inadvertently committing suicide by bingeing on wild cocktails & drugs until they just wake up dead.
At one time they were knowingly drinking cocktails made with insecticide, because it was supposed to really mess you up!

The annoying part is that this grew exponentially after "The Beach" film was released:
