Things that annoy you

1. People that reply to your question by repeating the question
2. People hogging gym equipment and not even using it at the gym
3. People being very dangerous at the gym with weights
4. People that invade my personal space
5. People that think talking louder on the phone will help the person on the other line hear them when the cause is a bad connection; got to love cell phones
6. Drivers that can't decide which lane they want to be in
7. People wait till you are about to pass them and then get right in front of you in the passing lane and driving slower than you
8. Parents not parenting their kids when in public places (what they do at home is their business)
9. People in acoustic section of the music store and strumming so loud you can't hear anyone talking
10. IMHO how people are primarily chatting via type/text using primarily acronyms and with some of the rare ones it's almost like learning a new language; some are obvious/common

Okay back to work.

"Yammie." The best science can determine is that Yamaha itself has approximately the same number of letters, only two or three more syllables, takes only two seconds longer to say and auto-correct knows Yamaha by default. Back to my Fendie or Mannie now...

Chris McCandless, and the dolts that idolise him. I studied environmental studies at undergraduate level and on my course there were a few listless, privileged yet perpetually bored individuals who would try and press-gang me into reading Into The Wild at every opportunity. Like McCandless these were bored young men from rich backgrounds who tried to compensate for their upbringing, awkwardly, by learning a bit of Wikipedia-grade bushcraft and smoking a bunch of weed. And apparently I needed to read the book, and watch the crap film they made of it because Chris McCandless, who was born into the sort of wealth I can only dream about, decided to take himself off to the woods to die. Really inspirational stuff guys!

The sad irony is that McCandless would have survived if he had taken his survivalism seriously. He would have known what to eat to get the calories he needed to forage and survive. He would have walked back out the woods after a decade and gone on to be an influential speaker. But that would take some sort of work ethic, self study and discipline, and that sort of stuff is for squares maaaaan. Instead McCandless became the poster child for a generation of Crusties and trust fund idiots; because who needs bushcraft when you have ketamine, hacky sacks and vague wanderlust.

Not finding personal satisfaction or meaning in a mundane but super-comfortable existence is a beyond first world problem. One that billions of humans would crawl over broken glass for. McCandless was an idiot, end of. He didn't send any sort of powerful message to The Man, he simply sidled off into back country and died a totally predictable, preventable death.

Hey man, got any food man? Got any drugs? Wanna buy a bus? Trade drugs for Phish CDs man?

I hate Microsoft and their continual forced attempts at upgrading my Windows 10 to the newer version.

It just pops on the screen and starts trying to install itself. You can't stop it unless you unplug your comp, which I do.

It's never installed correctly ever (8 tries now when I let it). It just crashes and restores my old version.

#$@!:spit:%$#!!:rage:$#@!#@#$:spit: :vomit::vomit::vomit:

Microsoft claims it's all about security.
But I know several educated computer techs who don't even bother with an anti-virus program on their comps. Do the techs know something I don't?

You know what I genuinely hate? The term "Bar-B-Que."

It's like this, cats.

Barbecue: The word in question. Both a kind of cooking tool and a variety of delicious cuisine that the south should be very proud of.

Bar-B-Q: I hear "Bar-Bee-Cue." Phonetically accurate and cute abbreviation, saves space and is easier to notice passing by.

BBQ: I hear "Bee-Bee-Cue." Not phonetically accurate but iconic. People know what you mean. Extremely space-efficient and easily recognized.

Barbeque: I hear "Barbeck" or "Barbekway" but begrudgingly accept that our overuse of the affectionate Q abbreviation has led society on a mass scale to decide that Barbecue must contain an actual Q.
It does not.

And then there's

Bar-B-Que:...
I... I can't... ugh.
First off, I hear "Bar-Bee-Kway." It's not shorter than Barbecue. You've ADDED a character, and the hyphens make the syllables feel more stressed and uncomfortable to say. Meanwhile you've substituted a Q for for a C without actually shortening anything, so the word ends with the nonsense syllable "Kway/Kweh." It's an unsightly and horrible word that demonstrates nothing but disdain for both linguistics and the name of the food you're selling.

It's unforgivable.

This is about as inconsequential as it gets, but:

I hate tearing off a paper towel, and that little corner piece stays on the roll.

Hey...I did say it was about as inconsequential as it gets!
Or when i give housemates money with specific instructions to get the half sheet cloth paper towels, and they come home with full sheet regular scratchy stuff :eyebrow:
When a thread about sandwiches becomes so contentious it has to be locked. :-/
If you start a thread about a specific brand of sandwiches, I promise not to post in it :smug:
I got one for you, when my fiance ON PURPOSE puts the TP the wrong way.
This wedding is OFF! :rollno:

What a bunch of first world problems we all have! :p
