I am liking this post, even though it seems ironic to do so.

People’s obsession with ranking and rating and judging everything. We don’t need to justify what we like or try to herd everyone in the same direction.

I once lived right next to a church. After a short while we stopped hearing the bells (which rang every 15 minutes at times). Perhaps you should move closer.

I've noticed this unfortunate trend of people posting opinions like this, even though they've never left the continental USA. And the ones who've ventured abroad aren't climbing the sheer faces of cliffs, or exploring uncharted jungles. Some folks go on a few cruises, or to Vegas for a weekend, or they've been to Europe once, and suddenly they're Ernest Hemingway. The arrogance is very annoying. Just go and enjoy yourselves, but please drop the superior attitude.

I'd never heard that one before but it is, indeed, annoying. I've tried travelling with no money and it didn't even get me on the subway. Also, my mother travelled alone from Australia through North Africa and the Middle East in the '60s and has all kinds of wild stories about those travels. At times she was with others but she also travelled alone in places where being a woman put her at considerable risk. She might describe herself as "gutsy" for doing what she did (though she'd probably be more likely to say "naive") but I very much doubt she would describe her explorations as "courageous". Funny how having a parent who fought in the jungle during WWII can skew a person's notion of what constitutes "courage".

How about the a-holes who drive slow as hell and then want to speed up when you go to pass them? I hate those bastards.

Was that you who kept trying to pass me on the right? I remember you. Man that was annoying!
