Things to use old strings for

You could make a super-awesome Christmas wreath with them.

Or cut the (haha) balls off of them and string those onto a sweet necklace or bracelet.

If you're into accupuncture, you could sterilize them and stab yourself - well guitar strings would probably be better for that.
 
use the lighter gauge strings to hang pictures with, maybe use the heavier gauge ones as hinge supports for a trunk lid or something so it stays open without going past a 90 degree angle? or cut them up and use the lighter ones as building materials for model train set landscaping (power lines, cable car cables...) and stuff like that.
