You are correct. The Family Video Store chain is still in business and doing well. We have a few of them in my area. They are the only video stores remaining in most towns.

Reread my post. I never said that's why they went out of business. I said they got in trouble for it. I'm still glad they went out of business.

I remember when video stores were cash cows. Being that this is a bass forum, I should mention I worked at one and my manager was Dennis Dunaway. I had no idea for awhile who he was/is.

HOT salsa on the shelf in the grocery store. I was there today, and it was all mild and medium. There wasn't even a spot on the shelf for hot. I had to get some chili paste from the Asian food section. I'm dipping my chips in chili paste.

wow, really? here in los angeles, we have plenty of hot, and it's harder for tender mouthed people like me to find mild sometimes.

I see these anymore in my area When I was a kid the playgrounds all had one of these most were wood with metal bars but some were metal like this one more of a challenge after it rained to stay on. I still remember run as fast as you could and feeling the G forces as you tried to jump on WHAT A RUSH!

A friend of my had a Gremlin and his wasn't that bad.

i had a gremlin my sister gave me. i drove it for a few years with no problems at all after a couple repairs she had failed to give it. it was still running fine when i last saw it, although i assume it's now a crushed metal block somewhere.

My wife's grandfather was a printer and had a Heidelberg in his print shop out back on his property. My wife's grandmother was his typesetter and they ran the business until he died at 82 in 1975.

I used to work in a printing business that had a Heidelberg windmill printing press. I was a typesetter and press operator.

I was one of the last of the breed of typesetters who even ran a Linotype Machine.

I doubt if Albert Einstein knew how to run a Linotype.

I dreaded being on what we called hell box duty you had to go through all the type faces that were swept from the floor and put them in order for those who do not know what it is I am talking about when I say "Type faces"
now imagine a big wooded box with a bunch of these mixed and you need to put them in the correct slot

You are referring to the "California Job Case" that held the handset type pieces. I had to use them as well.

How about the lead "pigs" or "ingots" that were used wit the Linotype machines?

yes but we used to sweep up the floor and they were thrown into a separate box that when it was your job sometime during the class you had to get them from "The Hell Box" and put that back in the California Job Case

California Job Case... I remember seeing that in their shop. They definitely didn't have a Linotype machine.

Now, that does not sound like a fun job. Especially, since you would have to know which type sizes and fonts to redistribute the letters back where they belonged.
