Things You Don't See Anymore Part 3

Ya know... now that i'm thinking about it, we may have actually just done the same :). As I was writing mine I was trying to remember who drilled the holes in the frames for the nuts and bolts :). I know I never did. I think we just jammed them on, too. If we ever did bold them, it was my father that did that.

I remember too I had a really rough time riding those things. They looked awesome, but they weren't much fun.

Nor were the steering wheel handlebars.

Did you guys used to do motorcycle skids :)? Or was that just a neighborhood thing? We race down the block, then jam on the rear brakes and make the bike kinda skid out sideways. Fun stuff.

Have we covered these things in this thread yet (pun intended :)).

I was obsessed with building these in my early teens. I built one a week for a long time. My room was full of them. I think they all just disintegrated or something cuz I have no idea where they all went.

I tried to build one as an adult but just didn't have the patience. It seemed like a waste of time for some reason. I may buy another one day. Maybe start a model building club or something - hey... there's an idea.

I'd buy these now, but the "Fruit Loops" would take longer to get eaten than the "Special K" did back in the day.

Did the skids thing for sure.
And...put a parachute made from a bed sheet on the back of the banana seat....The Bat Chute!

Just ran across this pic. I used to be able to ride a wheelie like forever..

I once jumped the curb down on a bridge...heard a crack...
Found out, at the bottom of the bridge, I broke the forks...handlebars went one way, tire went the other way...
It wasn’t pretty...

The EU is already starting to ban plastics. Maybe returning glass bottles will become fashionable again. Every once in a while, I get milk from a farm where you have to return the bottle, washed. It's the best milk.

Oh yeah. We had contests. Remember some of the spiders had special, squared off tires? They were meant to mimic racing slicks. That wide contact patch meant that they produced the blackest, widest skid marks.

Who remembers “Bullwinkle” handlebars?
