We had a variant of that in our high school band room. Being a drummer, I never used it, but it was cool watching other people tune up with it.

We had a variant of that in our high school band room. Being a drummer, I never used it, but it was cool watching other people tune up with it.
I had one of these...you slid the light under the string and when you'd see the string stop vibrating it was in tune. Ended up returning it shortly thereafter as I broke a few strings trying to figure it out. (I'm sure it was due more to my incompetence than faulty design.

A guitarist in a band I was in had a Conn Strobo Tuner like this one. I did not like trying to tune with it and used a different tuner.
oh yeah
We used that up to about 2003 when I got my little Korg tuner.
Man i Always wanted a Conn Strobotuner when i saw David Gilmour And Roger Waters using them
^ I remember seeing Kiss' guitar techs tuning up backstage at a Dynasty tour show in Pittsburgh in '79. First time I'd seen one outside Guitar Player magazine.

Oh, I had the Timex-Sinclair 1000. Fun little thing to learn on, but I do not miss cassette drives.
