Like the Econoline and the A100, the engine between the seats was a nice source of heat. 'cept I lived in Miami when I drove a couple.
I had one of them back in the day.
That was my work van in the late 70s and early 80s!
I remember pulling the cowling cover off and working on the engine inside the cab. Surprised no one ever got asphyxiated in one of those things! Yep great heat in the winter and no AC for summer.
While we're on the subject of old vans, my uncle had several of these. After getting my license, I got to drive a friend's a few times, and for me, the hardest thing to get used to was when turning, you're sitting over the front wheels. Coming from driving my land barge Ford LTD (mid-70s) with a six-foot long hood, it took a few turns into parking spaces to get used to that dynamic when driving the VW Bus. But overall it was fun to drive.

Speaking of bike stuff...
I was the only kid in our neighborhood with one of these. I could ride well into the night, when all the other kids had to go home.
Great on the street, but trail riding in the woods, way less so.
Also, when you slowed down and stopped, the light went dim, then out. 
There are still versions of this being made, apparently, but I've long since switched to a rechargeable LED system that stays on all the time. But these will always be a special kind of cool to me.

I never had that problem with mine. One had to hit the sweet spot of wheel contact vs. drag, but I got it dialed in fine.

Yep no FREE electricity! I wish everyone knew this.They're pretty common here still. Love watching kids struggle pedaling in the day time cuz they don turn them off
