Here is the Scirocco in it's infancy:
Actually 1975 was its first year here, I believe.
I wanted one but opted for the 1978 Rabbit cause it was more gig-friendly 4 door hatch.
Loved the Rabbit. I'd redline that engine 20 times a day. They were terrible rust buckets though...even when Ziebarted. No inner fender liners. By the time I plunked down the 36th payment I was facing serious deterioration issues.

My Son had a 2011 Rabbit and also played bass in a band. That poor car was used and abused but kept going. It was amazing how much gear that thing would hold.
He even ran it so low on oil the engine wouldn’t start! I think it was a safety feature.
I ran him up a gallon of oil and it started right up. When he traded it in it was literally used to death.
He now has a VW Tiguan and you better wipe your shoes before getting in. Ha!

They did. And VW a 3rd generation of it in 2008, but didn’t sell it in North America.

Plus their core audience looks nothing like them. Maybe they're fashion reporters but they all look middle aged!

actually person is also sexist! A son is a male descendant so the the word should really be perdescendant.
