Actually 1975 was its first year here, I believe.
I wanted one but opted for the 1978 Rabbit cause it was more gig-friendly 4 door hatch.
Loved the Rabbit. I'd redline that engine 20 times a day. They were terrible rust buckets though...even when Ziebarted. No inner fender liners. By the time I plunked down the 36th payment I was facing serious deterioration issues.
They did. And VW a 3rd generation of it in 2008, but didn’t sell it in North America.My first car! I thought they made a reissue in the 2000s?

Plus their core audience looks nothing like them. Maybe they're fashion reporters but they all look middle aged!
