I actually have a copy of that issue!

Damn, what I would have given to have that model of the Enterprise as a kid!
Got 'em all on CD. Not the same nostalgically but at least it's easier to find certain issues and articles. And yes, I still have the free roll of MAD toilet paper that came with it.I actually have a copy of that issue!
Didn't bother to save any of my other MAD's, but that one, I did!![]()

Mint-in-package? You could probably sell that and pay off your student loans in one shot!
~ Ahem ~DIT: I just noticed those spear-like protrusions from the fronts of the engine nacelles. Those were not in the show. This must be a fake!

Memory Alpha said:There have been three different renditions of the original design:The first model, used in the original pilot "The Cage", featured a larger bridge dome and sensor/deflector dish, and spikes on the Bussard collectors, among other minor differences.
Picture not showing up for me, and those linked pages are WAY too long to read while I'm at work. I'll take your word for it. Cool site, though... I'll have to skim through it when I have more time.
I'll try it this way, then:Picture not showing up for me...
I did include a quote for those in need of "executive summary"......and those linked pages are WAY too long to read while I'm at work.

Showing my age...these used to be 25 cents! We tied black cat firecrackers on them and blew them up!
No way would I do that at $8.50 a pop!View attachment 4782441
I'm watching "Strange New Worlds" right now!
As much as I liked the Enterprise, I always felt the Klingon Battlecruiser looked cooler and more menacing. (Which I guess was the point since they were the bad guys.)
I remember the Romulans having the Bird of Prey in the Balance of Terror episode (one of my favorites along with the Doomsday Machine). But somehow that moniker subsequently ended up being used for a Klingon warship...Call me old fashioned, but gimme a Klingon Bird of Prey…
