Come on, you’re old enough to know who that is.Both men-and the clock-look kinda creepy.
I’ll match you on the elementary school memory….but it wasn’t the mimeograph.
My lunchroom had this distinctive but not distasteful old wood smell when no food was being served in it. The last time I had been in it was 1967!
The next (and only other) time I experienced that exact aroma was at a Tower Records store in the mid 1990s when you were just entering the shipping room. It was there for years.
Yes, it is strange how smells can trigger a long term memory.

Oh, I know who they are. They still look creepy. Didn't notice that when I was a kid.
Yeah as kids we didn't see creepy.
That's why we were always told Don't talk to Strangers...probably even more relevant for kids today!

Not too many people remember this man from the Captain Kangaroo show.
Cosmo Allegretti played a host of characters on the show, including the full-sized Dancing Bear and Grandfather Clock, as well as various hand puppets, notably Bunny Rabbit, Mr. Moose, and Miss Frog. Bunny Rabbit and Mr. Moose.

In a certain state of mind, any kids’ TV show characters(especially clowns)can be creepy. However, that was on for a landmark 30 years(plus spin-offs), and Bob Keeshan, by all accounts, was a wonderful human being. In addition, Hugh Brannum, ‘Mr. Green Jeans’, was a jazz bassist and also performed with Fred Waring. And namechecked by Frank Zappa.
Not to mention this…

EDIT: Oops, never mind - he wasn't born yet! Perhaps he saw this hair dryer at some point and was influenced by it...

My father knew Bob Keeshan who liked to tell humorous behind the scenes stories of the show, many of which involved Hugh. Apparently Hugh could be a bit of a handful at times…
