Things You Don't See Anymore Part 3

The new Chevrolet Performance ZZ632/1000 DELUXE Big-Block Crate Engine is the most powerful crate engine ever, with the modern convenience of EFI technology, providing more than 1,000 horsepower on 93-octane pump gas.
Check out this ‘69 Chevelle SS with 1000+ HP!
Don’t see many of these on the street…Beautiful machine!

Paging @Mike N for the sheer joy, brute force, and ignorance factors.

Actually I believe the official paint is "Mediterranean Maserati Blue".
All of my vehicles are some shade of blue except for my Electra-Glide (Candy Brandywine); I don't think H-D made any blues I like back in the 80's, at least not for the baggers. I'm just drawn to blue, I guess. :)
I'm gonna guess neither Tampa Bay Lightning nor Toronto Maple Leaf Blue.;)

I find it hard to believe they're running 93 octane gas in an engine with 12:1 compression and a cam with .780" lift and 270 something duration at .050

Guarantee if you plunked down the cash for that engine they'd tell you that 93 is ok to idle around the fairgrounds, but if you're going to step on it, you better have 108 in the tank.

FWIW my 477 that makes 750 horses doesn't run worth a crap on 93.

We put together a 615 cube engine 20 something years ago that with a single 4 barrel on a cast intake manifold put out 1100 horses on engine alone and a little bit over 1500 with the bottle turned on.

Rest assured that we weren't running 93 octane fuel.

That car ran low 7's @ 190 something mph in the 1/4 mile.

The following year we swapped heads, went to a dry sump oiling system, sheet metal intake with split Dominators and we went 6.80's @ 203mph.

1100 HP! That is some crazy HP. What engine did you use? I have a 350 with ~325 horsies and that is plenty fast for me! Of course in the 60’s early 70’s I had a few tricked out muscle cars but nothing like you’re talking about!

They forgot to mention there’s a can of this in the glove box of that 1000HP SS Chevelle.

325 from a 350 is nothing to sneeze at.

The big engine was a Dart block, steel crank,15:1 compression, Big Chief heads and a single 4 barrel Dominator on a cast intake. Cam was a solid roller with almost 1" lift.

Eventually we swapped on a set of Pro Filer heads, Hogan sheet metal intake with split Dominators and a dry sump oiling system to crack into the 6 second range.

And at that point we found out that a Powerglide trans was only good for a few passes before it needed to be rebuilt.
