That scam started out with LP's, 4 & 8-track tapes, cassettes and lasted until CD's were dead...do they have an Audio Streaming Club version?
But then downloading finished the job.
Scam aside, that is a lot of musical variety!
I had joined RCA Music Club, only got 6 free ones, but only had to buy four instead of eight. Not really a bad deal, until I forgot to send in the form saying I did not want to purchase the pick of the month. Got stuck with the double album by Fleetwood Mac (Tusk, I think). As a metalhead, I had no use for that MOR pop music, and $15 was a lot for me back then to drop on an album I didn't want.
When my obligation was fulfilled, I notified them to terminate the agreement, and they were persistent to keep me on board, offering me a 'half-price for life' deal. Sounded good, was tempted, but then remembered what a pain it was to mail in the response card every month. I passed.
