The model is dressed very '60s, so I'm guessing that modem was not for home use?
I had recently posted I was watching the Matt Helm marathon and just watched The Wrecking Crew and it was enjoyable. Booze, female characters, cigarettes and a loose plot of women, bad guys and a suave Spy. Dean Martin was one smooth dude! Elke Sommer, Sharon Tate! and Ginger from Gilligan's Island. With a supporting cast of bad guys and Matt’s girls.

I just got down watching JBs Thunderball. It was so cool. I loved how that jet pack was so conveniently placed when he had to make his getaway.

Hires Root Beer was an American brand of soda pop introduced in 1876. It was one of the longest continuously made soft drinks in the United States until the Dr. Pepper / Snapple Group U.S. was phased it out as Dr. Pepper owned brand A&W Root Beer was promoted on behalf of the same company.

It's different, being made from different plants (original root beer was largely sassafras) but I think the basic formula of root/bark/etc with sweetener is the same.
Definitely a different flavor though, especially most root beer varieties these days which are quite a bit sweeter. Some varieties are made with sarsaparilla instead of sassafras and might be called that instead of root beer, though the name's not really common in the US anymore.
Oh, and we definitely have ginger beer here. I know I've seen Goslings, Bundaberg, Cock n Bull, and Barritts on store shelves at least in the midwest. Plus Crabbies and I think one or 2 others for alcoholic ginger beers.
