Things You Don't See Anymore Part 3

Wang-520.jpg

My wife and I went away this weekend, for her birthday. She wanted to do something different so we went to one of the "honeymoon resorts" in the Pocono Mountains. THANK GOD we read some reviews before we went, and while I wished I had researched it a little more before we actually booked, we didn't. But we still injoyed ourselves. We knew we were walking into a really dated place, and somehow, we enabled ourselves to imagine it was 1978 and we were in the most luxurious place in the world. In truth, it was ridiculous... but anyway, I just did a quick search on youtube, and this was exactly like the room we had. I think it may have actually been our room, anyhow....

This was truly something you don't see anymore! The BIG TV in the living room was maybe 20". The music was AM/FM only...

And yes. I paid way too much per night. Too embarrassed to even say what it was.

one of these coin change devices that the good humor driver wore

Last time I saw one of those was in 1994.

The driver's sidekick on a bus in Bangkok was using it to collect the coins for the bus fare.

There is a handle above the bus door to grab onto & swing yourself in, and the guy would prop it up there when he wasn't collecting fare money.

Well, one of the guys on the bus kept yanking the cord that rings the bell for the driver to stop, but the driver wasn't stopping.

We were pretty far past where the guy wanted to stop, so he reached up & grabbed the coin collection & threw it out of the bus door. I was a little shocked, but more amused.
The bus stopped immediately when the fare collector started screaming.

The guy who threw it was at least clever enough to run in the opposite direction.
