I drove 18 wheelers for ~23 years. I still have all the CB's, from basic to 'all the bells and whistles', I bought during that time.

Yes, "DQ" still exists in some incarnations here & there; It's just that style, like the old "golden arches," that has been superseded.

There are 3 Dairy Queen Grill & Chill places in my town and they are always busy. They don't look like that old style building though. I'm sitting across the road from one right now.

Even then they tend not to have looked like that for a very long time.

We called it the Trash-80 back then. Dig the cassette player for data storage, no hard drives back then! 4K of RAM, wow…I remember having to program microprocessors that had only 256 bytes!

"Strip clubs"... these were everywhere in the 70s/80s and maybe even thru the 90s but they have pretty much vanished from Canada.
Back in the early 80s the Northern BC dive bar circuit used to provide employment for these ladies too - our scrubby faux-country-rock trio frequently rotated sets with pole dancers and Jello wrestlers. A surprising number of these ladies were able to bank sizeable earnings over a couple of years and then were able to fund things like law school, med school, etc!

Make friends with anyone in sales who goes to Atlanta "on business". They'll tell you it's the second-largest industry in that town, bested only by the airport.

Cam'ing / Onlyfans etc : much greater reach, with bigger audiences, and bigger earning potential - all from the safety and convenience of your own home, with no sleaze bag punters, or club owners trying to get their paws on you, or your cash.

No danger of being robbed, or raped in the car park after work. And no ruthless wannabe starlets coming up behind you, to shove you down a flight of stairs.

Quote-jumping this over here, because you reminded me of something I'd nearly forgotten:

Cartoons on "Super 8" / 8mm reels for viewing at home!

Long before VCRs, etc., we had an 8mm home movie projector. Some of my earliest memories are of my father teaching me how to set up the projector, and thread up our copy of "Three Little Pigs" so I could watch it when I wanted to.

I can't recall the brand, but the projector was definitely one of the small "suitcase" types, with one clamshell side that came off, where the take-up reel was stored, sort of like this:

"The pig knows what time it is!" indeed!

I remember my dad having one of these, (went well with his Corinthian-leather-equipped Cordoba!) while I made do with it's much cheaper, boxier predecessor...

I had the Polaroid SX-70. Never worked quite as well as it seemed it should have. Fun enough, but not cheap.
