I don't know what else to tell you if you don't understand. Pnuemonia was definitely one of the reasons. It was not the only reason but simply reading the links you can see why.

Good job and thank you, but what I was initially questioning was your statement that pneumonia was the REASON the FDA banned clove cigarettes, not that cigarettes cause pneumonia AND that the FDA banned them.

Thanks for sharing the info SNEHA, this is all news to me, hough I'm not to broken hearted, if I have a hankerin' for flavor in my smoke you can always pick up some tasty puff at your local headshop or whatever.

Anybody else miss these? Invalid Link Removed they don't put nearly as much imagination in them nowadays.

Or this-Invalid Link Removed This was an event in my house as a kid, especially when they played the extended version!

This is a useful link with cited sources regarding Kreteks (clove cigarettes) from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

The LIVESTRONG.com article would have been better if they included a direct link to the CDC page relating to the article.

Ah, sweet sweet memories:smug:

I had this same one in kindergarten

With pleasure. :)

Drive in movies.

I find this interesting. My wife teaches High School English. One of her students for his senior speech he brought a prop in which happened to be a guitar. He played Stairway to Heaven in class and nobody knew the song. It used to be one of the most recognizable songs. It also used to be very cliche to play, and I'm sure there's been many a music store owner who died of exasperation every time they heard someone pick up a guitar and play it. People would heckle you over playing something so cliche. Seems there's been enough generations that have gone by that now teens don't recognize the song.

The thing is, clove cigarettes have never been shown to cause pneumonia more than regular cigarettes. It would make no sense for that to be the reason.

As for things you don't see any more:

Earthbound. It's nearly impossible to find for under 115 dollars.

Read-along story books that came with a little 45. "Turn the page when you hear the beep"

This was my favorite when I was little. Freaked my mom and dad out a bit as they saw me "reading" it out loud to myself on day, but I had just heard it so many times I had it memorized.

On the drive-in- there used to be an *adult* drive-in a few miles outside of town. We'd sneak a few underage buds in the trunk, drink & smoke cigars watching real prawn movies. People had body hair back then.

I've never been, but I've been told just outside of Tyler, TX there's still a drive in like that. Not guaranteed, but it's been said more than once.

You wouldn't have lived near Sacramento in the late seventies early eighties. There used to be a *adult* drive in just south of Sac. My buddies and I used to park outside along the fence and, if you could put up with the lights along the fence you could watch the show.
