I was looking through an old photo album at my mother's and saw this old photo. It was taken in the summer of 1966, a year before I was born. I vaguely remember 10 or 12 foot slides, but this one had to be 20-25 feet tall! Wonder how many kids had to fall off before they took it down to keep from being sued. I love looking at old pictures for things like this. They definately don't make them like they used to!
Anyway, feel free to post any old pics of things you don't see anymore.

Got one here, but I'm not sure if he's 'official' or not...The Fuller Brush Man
I have all the books...I miss that strip!Yeah, Calvin & Hobbes are still well known in my circles- and rightly so. Good stuff.

My house used to be my grandmother's; after her passing, my mom (who inherited the house) gave it to me when I moved here from the Bay; at least twice a year, this old guy (he has to be in his mid-80's at least...serious) has shown up at the door, sample case in hand, and announces himself as "...the Fuller Brush Man and is the lady of the house available?" The first two or three times he showed, I'd politely explain that Grandma is no longer with us and that I didn't need anything from him. Once, however, as I went to the door, I heard him mumbling to himself - something about "...not home...should I leave a card?...should I come back later?...should I..." and he went on down the sidewalk. I kinda suspect that he actually was a Fuller Brush rep back in the day, and hasn't realized that time has passed since then.
And I have a TV antenna on the roof, too.

Also, remember the pretentious clove cigarettes?
Removed from the market because they could bring on aspiration pneumonia.

Pneumonia? They were banned from sale in the United States under the premise that their flavor attracted children to smoking.
The bill was also suspiciously backed by The Altria Group, who owns a rival company of Djarum over in Indonesia.

You sure? when did this take place? I could have sworn I saw them at the local liquor store not too long ago... weird
That's what we get... it's touted as full service, but it's not.I don't know about New Jersey - but Oregon generally doesn't have "Full Serve", they have "Mini serve"... which amounts to a guy pumping your gas and nothing else.
Unlike full service they don't check the oil, or wash the windows, or any of that jazz... they just pump the gas.
I was about to say the OG D&D but alas....

That's right. Pneumonia. Look it up.
I looked it up. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
There's mention of reducing children smoking, but I cannot find anything on pneumonia. Where are you looking your information up?
See post #309.
That article, "The Dangers of Smoking Cloves" does not say anything about pneumonia being the reason for the ban. The FDA said the reason for the ban is to prevent kids from smoking.
Are we done now?
I don't understand.
Do we really need to do this or can you apply yourself and do a little work.

Respiratory Conditions
Smoking clove cigarettes increases your risk of developing acute lung injury, the symptoms of which include fluid in your lungs, decreased oxygen and capillary leakage. People with asthma who smoke kreteks have a higher risk of lung damage. If you smoke kreteks regularly, you have more than 13 times the risk of smokers of regular cigarettes of developing airflow obstruction, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Other conditions associated with regular smokers of clove cigarettes are pneumonia, bronchitis, respiratory infections and coughing up blood.
