Wow! Wow! I can't believe I found this! Another Santa present! (I'm almost sure it was Christmas 1977)

After searching for "Lulu-Monde Walkie Talkie" I found exactly the ones I had. Now this is what I call fond childhood memories.

I've just remembered clearly. Yes, it was Christmas Eve. 1977. This is what I received in '78:

A Yamaha Electone BK2 which my dad replaced around half a year later for this one:

Which I currently have in my apartment in half-decent condition (BTW, that was my first bass amp EVER).

Andybody remember Vacuform?

Or Thingmaker:

Two toys from my youth. Wonderful toys, way too dangerous to be allowed these days.

I still have my wife's Vacuform - I use it on occasion for model projects.

I had a Thingmaker and one of the similar machines that made foul tasting edible stuff. It took years to get rid of the burn scars on my fingertips.

...omg...I HAD one of those!

I absolutely can not freaking believe I found this with one click. I was certain I was the only one on the planet who owned one.

What...a milk crate full of old Playboys? Hardly.

...:D...

But seriously folks...some of you may already know that I've worked in the bicycle industry for over 25 years and can speak with some degree of authority in saying...you know how much some of those Stingrays, etc are WORTH these days?!? Joe's looks like a Raleigh Chopper variant, judging from the ram's-horn handlebars, but I don't recognize the X-shaped sissy bar; the Huffy Steering Wheel was only on the market for maybe a year or two at most, and HeavyDuty is right in that they were flat-out dangerous to ride, which is why they didn't last long at all. And if anyone still has a for-real Schwinn Crate, they're worth about the same as an Alembic Mark King these days. Seriously. And about as easy to get. Seriously. Wait, I take it back...the King would be easier to get. Seriously.

Yeah you know what I don't see anymore kids being kids today they grow up too fast and a lot die way too soon. that was something that rarely happen when I was young.

+1 on this. We roamed the neighborhood in all directions all summer on our bikes for hours at a time. We had zero adult supervision and zero cellphones. Nothing bad ever happened to us other than the odd self-inflicted bike crash.
I think parents today are too terrified to let their kids just be kids. It's really sad to think about how today's kids are so sheltered and cocooned. I'm convinced that's the reason you have 35 year old "kids" today who can't function on their own. The first reaction of even college age kids today is to call "mommy" or "daddy" to fix it for them.
