The main band I've been in the last 6 years, "The Rhythm Doctors" has been quite for the last 18 months, so I joined another band in October last year. We rehearsed intensely and did a few gigs, but it went no where fast. We had problems with our lead singer. The day after that band broke up, I answered an add at a local music store for another band looking for a bass player. I auditioned, got to join, and once again, I was in a band that had a gig in 3 weeks from the time I joined.
While I was rehearsing with this last band (and even a little with the previous one), I've been thinking about being home with my wife and two daughters. Not every rehearsal, but enough. Even the gigs haven't been as exciting to me as they used to be.
So I'm thinking about taking time off from playing with other people and gigs. If a pick up gig comes along (as they sometimes do) with one previous rehearsal, I'll probably do it. But for now, I'm thinking about quitting the band I'm now in and just play a little bit at home by myself. I can play just a little each day (maybe 30 minutes) when everyone else goes to sleep. I have a Pandora's Box that will prevent me from waking everyone.
I'm actually thinking this might be good. I can really do some serious woodshedding on certain techniques and scales.
Just needed to share with you guys. Thanks for listening/ reading. Hopefully I haven't wasted too much of your time.
