actually, IME, those two might be worth what they're asking. i've seen '59/'60 les paul standards go for $250K-400K, and the '60 is mint. its hard to place a value on the Jackson's autographed one, since that one is more of a 'memorabilia' type item.
They may very well be to someone with that kind of disposable income but geez, even if I found the golden goose, I still couldn't see paying more for a guitar/bass than I paid for my house...it just doesn't compute.![]()

yeah. i agree. a very good friend of mine (that's a multi-millionaire), has a huge vintage guitar collection of 700+ guitars, including two '59 les paul standards. when he was about to buy the second one (four years ago), he asked me if i thought that $185K was too much for it. well, to me it was, so i told him that it might actually be worth that much, but i just couldn't imagine buying ANY guitar for that kind of dough. two days later, he bought it anyway and brought it to show it to me. it was beautiful, but man, IMO, kind of a liabilty. a year later, the guy that sold it to him offered him $285K to buy it back, but he didn't sell it to him. i guess that it goes to show that if you have that kind of money on hand, you could make $100K on it in a year if you spend it right and then have the right buyer with deep pockets for it.

The insurance on $55K would be quite a bit. That said, if I paid $55K for a bass, I think I would drive and get it.
WOW.
What a deal!!! What a bass!!!"
