this for $55K on the bay

The insurance on $55K would be quite a bit. That said, if I paid $55K for a bass, I think I would drive and get it.
I agree the shipping is a little high, but, if someone is going to shell out 55 g's for that stick, 95 bucks for shipping is piss on the ground.
You don't trust a dealer's word that makes a $250 bass worth $55K? You're too cynical.
This seller is comedy gold. Not so much for the hyper-inflated price he wants for the instruments he sells, but for the language he uses in his descriptions. i.e. -

I have a Mosrite, owned by Bob Bogle, and I only played 1200 bucks for it a few years ago. Its not a great instrument, but I bought it as a gift for my father who was a very big Ventures fan.
So do you think the previous owner's name is Randy or is that what he/she named the bass?

one neck pickup in that position leaves little room for a great tone. good thump, yes..but thats about it in most cases.
