This has to be funny,,

(HUMOR ALERT!!!) I can't find a bass I like, My gigs are low key restaurant, or small bar,
In the past 8 years I have been thru 9 different basses. Buy, sell, or return to GC. Remember this is bass humor!
Yeah, they were setup correctly, good strings, I just get tired of it. I am about to P/U a fender jazz at GC. I stopped by and played it
3 different days, side by side with another fender jazz, fender p, it felt and sounded the best. So I tested it! GC gives me 45 days to take it back! Right now I have 3-4's & 1-5 stringer.
I could spend $5K for a bass and after a few months it would have to go! My longest keeper is a Sterling Ray4, still have it, better sounding maybe was a LTD D4, its gone, worst was a LTD p/j? AP204? long gone, best? EBMM USA SUB
I guess it is a SICKNESS!!! I need therapy! 1-800-2-MANY-BASSES Link Removed bass.I.like,com

Unfortunately, it's not likely that it's the bass. Especially if you're not liking what you're hearing after a few months. What prompted the basses you already have? And why are they not sufficient? Time to get introspective. But, as a guy thats bought and sold about 20 basses over the last 2 years, I understand the search.

The problem could be your amp/cab , what are you using ?

I too am fickle. I play a bass today and love it, play it again in a few days and can't connect with it, wonder what's wrong? In a week I know I will love it again. Have never sold a bass, only donated 2 of them, including one (a 4001 '72 Rick) that I should have kept. Have never returned a bass, but in total I have only bought 8 in the course of my lifetime. Now I have 5 and really should get rid of one (Ovation '91 Elite Acoustic), which sits in it's case for over a year now, because it leaves me ham-fisted if I play it for more than a few days.

The good thing about basses is that you do not need to be monogamous. But, you should find something you like for more than a month or two!

New strings is a good suggestion (I love new strings!). Maybe do something for the amp or EQ. Best of all; concentrate on playing over obsessing about the equipment. (I sometimes need to heed my own advice!). ;)

Have you tried a finger transplant?
Endless TBers will tell you the fingers can do anything if you just practice more. Compressor? No need. Distortion? Wasteful. Ring modulator? Go back to Fingers 101.
I built a pedalboard a couple months ago and only plugged it in once. One of these days.

Once you have enough basses you will tire of the present bass and pick up one you haven't played in a long while. It's like having a new bass, then you move on to the next one in your collection when you tire of that there's another one and it keeps on going, until once you have enough basses and make a continuous loop. It's reaching the "enough basses" part that takes time. For instance: How many Vox basses do you own? Not one?
Mission control we found a problem..........
