I'd venture to say that at least one poster on this forum, who shall remain nameless, is (in the words of Robin Williams in "Good Morning Vietnam") more in need of a ****job than any white man in history.

My point is that for those of us that have been around here for quite a while, it gets very old and that causes grumpiness. Much of the knowledge sought is already here. Is there anything inherently good about chatter for it's own sake?
My point is that for those of us that have been around here for quite a while, it gets very old and that causes grumpiness. Much of the knowledge sought is already here. Is there anything inherently good about chatter for it's own sake? How about putting out some effort with a little research before posting? Many topics have been thoroughly fleshed out already. If a newbie would do their homework first, then any new questions or observations they have could be added to an already existing thread.
OK. I cop to the fact that I'm "mean".
But I challenge anyone to get as many posts deleted by DURRL than yer's truly's.![]()

I'd say that's true, and it goes both ways. While the "old folks" probably wouldn't say in person what they say here, I also doubt that someone with almost no experience would go to SEE a jazz show, and then get in an argument with the pro bass player about gear/basses and theory. They would probably just shut up and listen.
The only flaw in your point is that this thread (among others that have gone into flame wars) was not about a newbie in search of a $500.00 bass.
It's easy to say, "Search the threads."
And it really is easy to do on this site. I've done it many times successfully and am no search expert.
I'm probably getting a colonoscopy in a month. I'll keep everybody posted. Pics when I get 'em.
It's a very unsettling feeling to get drugged and wake up with sore, lubed up ass and photos to prove it... just sayin'. At least it's consensual I guess.
They put you to sleep?
But this is a forum, not a library. There is a value to talking about a subject, even if it is a subject that has been discussed before. Discussion is not "chatter for its own sake" when it is part of the learning process.

Probably, but it wouldn't have addressed the larger issues I wanted to air out, and am pleased to see that they're getting a good discussion. With regards to the OP, just filling out your profile would have been sufficient....
