dave garibaldi is amazing. I saw him at a drum clinic at mars music about a year ago...he singled my firend and I out at his clinic because we were bass players. flea- yes he is a good player, but i think he should venture off into some differnt types of music. Les- i was watching him on my 94 woodstock tapes last night. didnt really see anything 'impressive" out of the guy. A man with pure taste of funk is a man by the name of Victor Lamante Wooten. he is a hip cat. To see him live is just unreal. peace

I'm I the only kid who knows all his chords and can play through chord changes. I think it is really important to learn all of your chords and learn how to incorporate chord changes into your music, i was pretty heavy into slapping a couple of months ago, but I have given it up now to concentrate on more important aspects of playing and theory.

I try to learn just the scales and chords and such, but sometimes I just have to try and learn a really cool sounding solo to keep my showoffitude in check, because I usually try for a while then get sick of it and go back to my scales. I'm working on (Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth right now, but it would work a lot better if I had a wah pedal... I also only slap when I'm angry/frusterated, or when my bandmates are making too much noise while me and the guitarist are talking or he's telling me the chord changes or if the song is detuned or not. It usually shuts em right up too, I have a loud amp :D .

Yes he does know how to do that 12-bar blues in F thing (yeah I know, I have no clue what it is but he does). Interesting how everyone assumed that all he did was slap when I never once said that. Obviously he does slap very well but it wasn't the only thing he does. And to think I thought maybe I'd share my amazment with you people, but I guess I can't share any kind of OPINION without getting flamed. Tell you what, I'll edit out the whole flea thing. Maybe then will my post get some respect? Heaven forbid I post the "f" word. I don't think anyone even read the rest of my post. They just saw that word "FLEA" and slammed down that reply button. I like Flea. That's right I like Flea. Now I guess I don't know what real music is, I mean, why did I even call myself a bassist if I like Flea? I should stick to the guitar:rolleyes:. I could never hope to amount to anything playing any instrument because i can't "Play a 12-bar blues in F". This is becoming typical at this site :rolleyes:.

I know what comes next...bring it on

I can't remeber who said that people say they're the master of their bass. I'll never master bass, I'm always learning new songs and then play them in different keys and styles. The combos are endless basically. And at 16 with lessons for 5 years with pro bass players, I realize I'm not close to mastering the instrument, I do this by always challegeing my play skills a level up. Sure this 14 year old might be good no doubt. But compareing him to a well established bass..... well I don't wanna get flamed so I'll leave it at this..

One thing I can't stand is, I walk into a local shop here play a cirrus or spector, and not 15 minutes go by without a kid my own age coming up to me and say can you slap? Ugh slapping so overated.

Only 12 bars - that won't get you very far - the gig would only last about 30 seconds or maybe a minute or two if it was a very slow blues! :D

Come back when you can play about 1200 bars without a break and you might be talking ! ;)
