Even TI flats are higher tension than most rounds. Should be fine.

I have had a set of TIs flats on my P for about 5 years, D tuner equipped. I've never had an issue, so much so I hadn't even considered it until I saw this post.

I have two basses with TI's and a hipshot d-tuner. No problems at all.

no reason it "wont" work. obviously if you rely on the drop D a whole lot than a thicker E is a good idea (i like the sheehan rotosound set for that)

but for occasional use, it's fine

Yeah, just try manually dropping to D and see how it feels.
The "d-tuner" doesn't do anything a regular tuner can't with a little more effort.

TI sell four VERY different types of electric bass strings. Which type are we talking about here?

I would recommend never ripping any flats off in a week. A month, maybe, but more like three months of fairly active playing to give them time to sound like themselves. Then, if you like what you hear, you can keep them on for pretty much the rest of your life.

I've had the old style Fender Flats on there since I bought the bass new in 2016. I was planning on new flats (the TI's) since I wanted to add the D-Tuner.

Detune it and find out. I found that angled headstocks sound a little better for detuning, but don't always flip back and forth as accurately. Straight pull seems to work better, but can be a tad floppy.

Apparently we can't edit. I meant that Detuners aren't the most accurate on angled headstocks compared to a straight pull. I barely use them since I find that they aren't as accurate as I'd like after about 10 flips or so. Probably more than adequate for single notes, but I'd play in trios and I'd play chords and harmonics to fill out the sound, which was where I'd hear the tuning issues. As long as I get about 4-5 seconds, just as easy for me to change the tuning manually.
